How to Clean Artificial Grass?

If your yard is covered in artificial grass then you need to know exactly how to clean it, right? After all, it is so much easier to maintain than real glass, however, it still needs a bit of cleaning from time to time so it looks good.

Of course, the cleaning methods you should use depend on how dirty the grass is. Today, I will teach you what to do when there are light stains and dirt as well as when the grass is super filthy and you need to deep clean it!

How To Clean Artificial Grass?

– If it’s not that dirty

In this case, start off with getting rid of mud, debris, or any liquids you might have spilled on the grass. Use a paper towel or a cloth to soak up any liquids then vacuum the grass if there are debris and impurities.

Next, fill a bucket with warm water and add a tablespoon of liquid dish soap. Dip a brush in the mixture and start scrubbing the grass. Be gentle and work in an upward motion so the grass remains sticking.

After you are done simply rinse the grass either with a garden hose or with a bucket filled with water.

– If it’s really dirty

If your grass is extremely dirty and it’s covered in dog poop, paint, greasy stains, glue, gum, or all sorts of other things that you have no idea how to remove, here is what to do!

If your dog peed on your grass – use distilled white vinegar to get rid of the stain and the smell.

If there is dog poop or you dropped food on the grass – remove the impurity then use ammonia to get rid of any stains or bad odour!

For oily stains, grease, paint stains, etc. – again, use ammonia to clean up the mess.

For any sticky substances like gum or glue – scrape as much as possible with a knife or a spoon then use a commercial adhesive remover!

How To Deodorize Your Carpet?

Taking proper care of your carpet and cleaning it is definitely frustrating. Have you wasted an entire day shampooing your carpet? You probably have since this is a pretty complex chore.

How Often Do You Vacuum Your Carpet?

A huge part of maintaining your carpet clean is to vacuum it. Of course, this is not the only thing you must do, however, it’s an important step to take… on regular basis.

All carpets absorb a huge amount of dirt, dust, and impurities that are in your home. On top of that, your carpet is a breeding ground for germs. Unfortunately, your vacuum cleaner won’t be able to get rid of everything but it will remove the debris that are sitting on top of the surface and will limit the impurities that go deep into the carpet. This is why vacuum cleaning on regular basis is so crucial. That way you will be able to avoid dirty patches and discolouration from forming.

What Else Can You Do?

The next important step you need to take is to… use baking soda. Yes, I said it – you need baking soda. You do not have to spend a lot of money on special cleaners nor do you need to make your own cleaners using natural ingredients. If I have to be honest they will probably do more damage than good. Why? Because your carpet is made out of such delicate fabric that can easily be damaged or stained.

I avoid all cleaners and simply use baking soda. It’s the safest way to freshen up your carpet as well as deodorize it without worrying that any damage will occur.

I like to mix two cups of baking soda with 15 drops of lavender essential oil. Not only will your carpet deodorizer smell amazing but it will also have antibacterial properties because the lavender essential oil has them. Then, once my powder is ready, I sprinkle it all over my carpet then let it sit overnight.

Then, in the morning, I grab my vacuum cleaner and remove the powder.

Never Skip These 7 Areas When Spring Cleaning!

There are so many things you need to keep in mind when spring cleaning your home – small areas and items which might not look like a big deal but are crucial when looking at the big picture. This is why I want to share a list of all areas most people skip when deep cleaning their homes so that you can focus on them!

Your Trash Can

Yes, you probably use a garbage bag which is why you don’t think cleaning your trash can is that important, however, the bag still leaks which is why your trash can smells bad.

This is why you need to include cleaning your trash can in your spring cleaning checklist! I like using a disinfectant so I know that not only is my trash can clean but free of any germs as well!

Your Shower Head

Do you intend to skip cleaning your shower head? Don’t! There is so much build-up, dirt, soap scum, and impurities there that need to be removed at some point.

Thankfully, there is an amazing hack that will save you a ton of time and effort (you have probably heard of it). Fill a bag with vinegar, submerge your shower head in there and leave it overnight. Then, the next morning, simply rinse the showerhead.

Handles/ doorknobs

Now, more than ever, disinfecting all handles, doorknobs, remote controls, light switches, and other areas you touch very frequently has been a crucial part of cleaning.

This is why you shouldn’t skip on this chore because all of those areas are breeding grounds for germs.

Your Cleaning Tools

All mops, sponges, cloths, brooms, and other cleaning tools you use need to be deep cleaned this spring because you can’t really clean your home with dirty supplies. If you do that then you are simply spreading more dirt and germs in your home.

And do not forget to clean your vacuum cleaner as well!

Your Upholstery

Cleaning your upholstery is never an easy task which is why many people tend to skip it when spring cleaning. But if you could see the amount of dirt, dust, germs, and other impurities that are hiding in your sofa and mattress you would immediately get to cleaning.

Of course, one of the best ways to do that is by using a steam cleaner but not many people have them. If you don’t you can always contact a cleaning company.

Your Small Appliances

Everyone focuses on cleaning their oven and fridge when spring cleaning but how many people pay attention to their smaller appliances – the coffee maker, the toaster, the microwave, etc.

Promise yourself that this spring cleaning you will focus on all appliances – not only the big ones!

Your Pillows

When was the last time you washed your pillows? Probably when you first bought them. But similar to cleaning your upholstery, your pillows need to be taken care of as well.

They also absorb a lot of dirt, dust, body-liquids and germs so make sure you throw them in your washing machine this spring – especially if you have allergies!

How To Remove Stains From Your Plasticware?

If your plasticware is stained due to the spaghetti with tomato sauce you previously placed in there then I have news for you – you can easily get rid of those stains. I know that no matter how many times you wash it with hot soapy water or scrub it with a sponge they won’t seem to come out – this has been a huge problem for me in the past as well.

But, thankfully, I discovered an amazing hack which you can use in order to clean your plasticware and make sure those stains are gone!

In fact, I have two hacks for you!

That is right, not one but two different ways you can remove those stubborn stains!

The first one is quite simple – all you need is denture tablets. Fill the container with warm water and drop one tablet in there. Leave it overnight then wash the container by hand.

Those tablets work very well due to the baking soda and citric acid that they contain. And after all they are formulated to dissolve stains, right?

If you don’t feel like buying denture tablets just for the sake of removing stains off of plasticware then the second hack is for you!

All you need is the sun… yes, the sun! Place the stained container in direct sunlight and leave it there for a few days. Sun exposure will fade the stains but you need to be patient! The stains won’t be gone in 5 minutes which is why most people prefer the first hack – it won’t take as much time! But if you aren’t in a hurry then you can use this second one – after all, it’s free!

Learn How To Remove Rust From Stainless Steel

Unfortunately, stainless steel can rust… and even if it’s called “stainless” it can also stain… But don’t worry – thankfully, removing rust isn’t that difficult and you also don’t need any fancy products which will cost you a lot of money. You can still remove rust and have spotless stainless steel with natural ingredients like vinegar and baking soda. Believe me, it’s not rocket science!

Use Baking Soda

Yes, removing rust from stainless steel with baking soda is a thing! All you need to do is make a paste by mixing baking soda and water then apply that paste on the affected area. Then grab either a toothbrush or a clean rag and start gently scrubbing following the direction of the grain.

Once you remove the rust wipe the area with a damp cloth so that you can remove the paste completely.

Use Vinegar

Another favourite natural ingredient of mine used for cleaning. If I have to be honest, I use vinegar as an all-purpose cleaner. I simply add my favourite essential oil to it then pour it in a spray bottle.

But not only will vinegar clean and disinfect your home but it will also remove rust from stainless steel.

If there is rust on a smaller object like a utensil then you can soak that item in vinegar for a few minutes then wipe the rusted area with a cloth or a toothbrush and rinse.

If the object is larger like a kitchen appliance then you obviously can’t soak it in vinegar, therefore, you need to pour it in a spray bottle then spray the affected area with it. Wait 10 minutes for the vinegar to work it’s magic then gently scrub with a sponge. Continue with removing the vinegar with a damp cloth.

Use Lemon Juice

If you don’t like using vinegar due to the smell then you can also use the juice of a lemon. Mix it with baking soda in order to create a paste then coat the affected area with it and leave for 30 minutes.

Then dampen a sponge and remove the paste with it!

Want spotless mirrors? Here is how to clean them properly!

Mirrors are one of those things around your home that always seem dirty, covered in fingerprints, makeup, dust, etc. I used to try cleaning them only with those commercial glass cleaners but if I have to be honest I wasn’t completely happy with the results which is why I decided to try different natural cleaning ingredients that I already have around my house so that I could see which one works better.

Did I find what I was looking for?

Yes! And I want to share my cleaning methods with you so that you can try them out for yourself. Here is how I always have streak-free spotless mirrors in my home!

I now use vinegar, water, and alcohol. I also ditched the paper towels and the newspapers for a microfiber cloth which provides amazing results. You also need a spray bottle and some cotton pads.

Follow these steps!

If there is dirt, makeup, or other impurities on your mirror make sure you grab rubbing alcohol. Soak a cotton pad in it then wipe these dirty spots with it. Be fast because alcohol dries very quickly!

Then continue with mixing equal parts of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on a microfiber cloth – and keep in mind that less is more, therefore, you don’t need to use a lot.

Start wiping the upper left corner and drag the cloth to the right corner. Do this all across the mirror until your mirror is spotless!

Wondering how to clean your air fryer? Find out how.

Do you own an air fryer that you use quite often? I know I love fried foods and the air fryer has helped me so much ever since I got it.

Cleaning it is very important and when you first purchase yours the cleaning process can get overwhelming. But I am here to guide you through it.

Wash after every use

There are parts of the air fryer that you need to wash after every use. They include the basket, tray, and pan.

Wash them just like any other utensils – with soap and warm water. You can also place them in the dishwasher. But if you prefer to do that check the instruction manual first – you want to reassure yourself that these pieces are dishwasher-safe since that is not always the case.

Wash every couple of uses

There is a little greasy residue left on the fryer, therefore, you should damp cloth and wipe the exterior after every couple of uses.

How to deep clean your air fryer?

Is there an odor coming out of your air fryer? If that is the case then it’s time for you to deep clean it and remove any trapped food particles. It’s quite simple – you need some baking soda and water. Form a paste with these ingredients and scrub the interior of the air fryer either with a brush or an old toothbrush.

  • Do not use any metal cleaning tools to scrub your air fryer with because they will damage the non-stick coating.

Things that damage your carpet

Taking care of your carpet is essential when you are looking to prolong its life. We all understand that getting it dirty or faded will not affect it nicely. According to there are many things that will harm the fabrics and you should do everything in your power to prevent it.

First off placing your carpet is essential. You need to know what sort of sunlight will fall on it. If you put it somewhere close to a window you need to make sure it won’t get faced easily. There are a number of solutions that will add a protective layer to the surface and keep the sun away. If you have your carpet somewhere where direct sunlight doesn’t have easy access to it then you should be fine. But other things can cause fading as well. For example bleaching is such a factor. We all understand that getting rid of special types of dirt require special measures but heavy bleaching might leave spots on the carpet permanently. Even if there are no stains the fabric will get damaged and start to thin out and then fade.

Many times trying to help your carpet you might end up harming it. For example people are always eager to vacuum it thinking it will be alright. That is generally correct but there is a certain time during which you should vacuum it. If you decide to steam clean it, which is an excellent, idea you must remember to always vacuum the carpet prior to the steam cleaning procedure. If the dry particles aren’t removed off of it they will remain there even after the sanitation. Soon enough the carpet will appear dirty again and you don’t want that to be the case.

Steam cleaning also needs to be done carefully. For example while doing it do not ever use a cleaning solution. This will prevent you from removing all of the oily stains. See the dirt gets trapped in the oil and it will come out but the residue will stay. It will appear tidy at first but then it will become visible that the carpet is still dirty.

There’s always the danger of staining your carpet with food. Have you asked yourself why most people don’t have carpets in their kitchens – that’s why. When you cook or carry plates with food around many times some crumbs will fall on the ground. If there’s a carpet beneath you it will get badly stained almost every day. It is up to you not to allow that by simply having a carpet away from where you cook your meals.

Even after you’re done cleaning your carpet with a detergent it can get dirty again easily if you do not rinse it properly. You shouldn’t wash the rug in a hurry because if the solution remains there it will become sticky as it dries out and will leave not only stains but will attract dirt as well.
